During the reign of the Elmoreden Empire, the Ivory Tower labored to recover, study, and improve upon the magic of the ancient giants and delve into the mysteries of creation itself. The mages of the tower scoured the world for arcane artifacts, ancient knowledge, and even made pacts with the primordial spirits, all to enhance their power. In fact, their magical prowess was so great that their influence rivaled even that of the emperor.

After the destruction of the old tower by Beleth, the Ivory Tower refocused itself and transformed into a facility purely for research and education. Many of the relics of the Golden Era remained within the tower, locked away for safe keeping, most forgotten with the passing of time.

One of these forgotten artifacts was in fact a prison for Seven Spirits of Mischief, who were spawned from the chaos during the War of the Gods. Unsympathetic to either Shilen or the gods, the Seven Spirits wreaked havoc to both sides through their natural control of spirits and the elements. Shilen created an amulet to which she bound them, casting it into the sea where it disappeared from history until its discovery by the Ivory Tower.

In the midst of a recent effort to catalogue many of these relics, an apprentice wizard re-discovered The Amulet of Mischief. Sensing that the young man was weak, the Spirits reached out to him from the amulet and took hold of his mind. Unable to refuse the voices, he was coaxed into casting the spell necessary to free the Seven Spirits, who immediately bolted from their eternal prison and are now celebrating their freedom across the world.

The Grand Magisters of the Ivory Tower have issued a warning throughout the land to beware of the Spirits of Mischief, as they have no compassion or sympathy as to the affairs of mortals. They warn that spirits, monsters, and fairies of all types are at the mercy of the Spirit’s call, and will appear gathering and attacking without rhyme or reason.

The Tower has deduced a way to re-imprison the Seven Spirits, but the ritual will require seven full days, one for each spirit. As each spirit is imprisoned, it will grow more active and violent, such that on each day of the ritual a different Spirit will dominate the others and manifest itself exclusively. The Ivory Tower requests that the citizens of Aden to try their best to quell this threat where it appears and protect the Ivory Tower so that the spirits may be sealed away once again.

Over the course of one week, monsters will be appearing in large numbers in different areas. The Ivory Tower will be a frequent target of these creatures. Keep an eye out for these wayward spirits!
